Loss Of Phone Number ‘Top Concern’ For Broadband Switchers

We are always being encouraged to change our broadband provider regularly to ensure we get the best possible deal for our internet connection, as well as that we receive the highest speeds, but for many people thinking about changing broadband providers, there are concerns.

A new survey by ISPreview found that almost half (49.4 per cent) of people have been discouraged from switching provider because they are worried about losing their landline number in the process.

In fact, 31.6 per cent of respondents to the survey said that they had lost their number in a switch, indicating that this is quite a widespread problem.

If you’ve taken the time to find the best VOIP service for your small business, the last thing you want is any kind of disruption if you decide you need to switch broadband providers for any reason.

ISPreview did point out, however, that by using Voip rather than relying on a traditional landline, that you’re minimising the level of disruption you’ll face if you do lose your number.

The website said that this solution “affords the end user more flexibility due to not being so reliant on a specific fixed line number”.

But broadband connectivity is an important thing to get right, for businesses and individuals. In August this year, a survey by Uswitch revealed that 83 per cent of UK broadband users have had reliability issues in the past 12 months.

As a result, the organisation is calling for greater transparency when it comes to the broadband speeds that are available in any given area, so that users know exactly what they should be receiving, and whether they’re getting what they’re paying for.
